Red Sea Global were focused on working with the local community to stage a spectacular celebration of Saudi sailing and maritime heritage, in the Red Sea Classic Sailing Race along the shores of Umluj near to The Red Sea destination. 54 were tasked with creating an event which was not only a sporting spectacle but also elevated the craftsmanship and dedication of a community steeped in sailing history with just four weeks or preparation time and planning.
It required every ounce of 54’s regional experience and team rigour from event operations to entertainment management, guest and race management to media coverage and content production to create an unforgettable chapter in the Saudi sailing story.

700+ attendees over 2 days

Working in amid challenging physical and logistical constraints, 54’s event management experts built a Cultural Village to highlight the treasured skills and craftsmanship of communities, featuring a sailboat museum, traditional food booths and cultural activations, local performances and a VIP hospitality section. They also constructed a media room for international journalists on site who would relay the sights and sounds of the weekend’s action and cultural activations to their audiences. The remoteness of the location made supply chain and logistics a challenge, but the event was a huge success.
"The inspiration for this initiative came from the heartfelt words of local fisherman Sheik Ameen Sanosi, whose deep passion for traditional sailboats sparked our commitment to restoring these special vessels. With the launch of the Red Sea Classic Sailing Race, we are reaffirming our dedication to upholding Saudi Arabia's maritime cultural heritage while celebrating the spirit of adventure and competition."
